Infrastructure Development
Transforming our communities into the Dubai of Africa by providing basic infrastructure to improve the living conditions of our people is one of our major priorities. The KHCDT has successfully completed the construction of several concrete roads across the communities to improve accessibility within the communities. These roads ( 300 x 600m ) were constructed in Koluama 1, Koluama 2, Fishtown, Foropa, Ezetu 2, Sangana and Ekeni communities.
Water Supply Infrastructure Development
Owing to the terrain and environment, the KEFFESO communities had lacked access to portable drinking water for years due to the high iron content in the region. As at 2021 there were over 50 boreholes across the communities but none were functional. The communities relied on dugout wells, rain water and sachet water for domestic purposes. The Pilot water infrastructure development project was initiated in 2022 and funded by the FIRST E&P and NNPC JV. The model is a hybrid reverse osmosis water borehole. Presently, there are 4 functional boreholes in Koluama 1, Koluama 2, Sangana and Ezetu 1 and they are the only sources of safe drinking water in the communities. Additional 5 boreholes are being constructed in Foropa, Fishtown, Oginibiri, Okumbiribeleu and Opu-Okumbiri communities.
